April Fool’s Day
“Hmpf... Hey! Switch off the light...”
“Good morning to you too, sweetheart.”
“What time is it, Jack?”
“Five in the morning.”
“What?”
“Well, I couldn’t sleep. I was waiting for you to wake up, but you kept sleeping and I was getting bored. Thought you could keep me some company.”
“Seems fair.”
“Aaand I wanted to tell you ‘happy anniversary, babe’.”
“Anniversary? What anniversary?”
“Ah, please. Just cut it out, will you?”
“What Jack? Don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Seriously. Enough with this joke. It’s getting old.”
“You think?”
“I do. It’s the same every year.”
“Not my fault if I lack of imagination.”
“Mmm... you sure?”
“Uh?”
“‘Cause I tought you were being pretty creative last night.”
*chuckle*
“Oh, that. I guess when I’m inspired I can surprise myself.”
“So? Aren’t you gonna say something sweet to your man in this special day?”
“Still don’t get what you’re talking about.”
*sigh*
“I swear I’ll end up hating this day.”
“Our anniversary?”
“April fools, idiot.”
“Don’t you think it’s just the perfect day for us?”
“For you, maybe.”
“You calling me a fool?”
“Yep. My favourite fool.”
“That’s better.”
*pause*
“I can’t believe it’s been ten years already.”
“Yeah. Wonder how I could stand living with you all this time without going crazy.”
“Same thing I thought!”
“Great minds think alike, I guess.” *pause* “Were are you going now?”
“Wait... you stay there, uh?”
*coming back to bed*
“This is for you.”
“What is it?”
“Well, that’s why it’s wrapped up, Sherlock. It’s supposed to be a surprise.”
“You know I hate surprises.”
“You know I don’t care.”
“Jack...”
“Come on. Open it.”
“Oh. These are...?”
“Yep.”
“The tickets for the concert?”
“You said you wanted to see it, so.”
“You didn’t have to.”
“Jeez, you’re welcome, Enn.”
“Thanks Jack. Really.”
“Alright. Where’s mine?”
“Your what?”
“Ennis...”
“Ah, just joking. Happy April Fool’s day, hon.”
“And happy anniversary to you. And now can you give me my present?”
“That’s the only reason why you like this day, isn't it?”
“Well, this is one of the reasons, actually.”
“And what would the other reasons be, if I may ask?”
“Just this one.”
*kiss*
“It reminds me that I devoted my life to you. Love thinking we’ll have other days like this one. Love thinking I’ll spend the rest of my life with you.”
“Hmm. Seems nice.”

Here in Italy we call it ‘Pesce d’Aprile’, which means literally ‘April’s fish’!!
Googling around I discovered that a similar holiday exists in Spain and Latin America, but it’s celebrated on 28 Dicember. Didn’t know that. ;)
