Time (Jack's POV)

Author’s note: I guess this can be labeled as canon , even if it didn’t really happen in the OS nor in the movie. (... now you’re confused, uh.)



Time

It had all been so quick.
Hard, rough and fast, no time to talk, no time to explore each other’s bodies like Jack had imagined every time he had fantasized about it.
Moaning, sweating, grunting.
Falling asleep right after that, one still on top of the other.
But it had been Jack’s most precious night since the beginning of that summer, ‘cause he had been craving to touch Ennis that way since... since the first time he had set his eyes on him, maybe.

He woke up in the middle of the night.
The clear light of the full moon entered the tent, bathing Ennis’s sleeping form like liquid silver.
Jack smiled.
God. He was beautiful.
Did he know how beautiful he looked?
Or he really had no idea at all?
He reached out to touch his face, his hand stopping in mid-air for just a few seconds, almost afraid of touching him.
Blurred images of what had happened a few hours before replaying in his mind, like some kind of distant dream.
I can’t believe it. I can’t believe we did it.
Ennis’s concrete presence the only thing convincing him that it was all true.
He was asleep right there beside him.
More gorgeous and real than ever.
Jack’s fingers grazed the curve of Ennis's lips, then the tip of his nose.
Touching his soft curls. Hovering above his freckles.
He looked at Ennis’s slightly opened mouth, that mouth he had impulsively tried to kiss.
Too bad Ennis hadn’t let him, ‘cause he would have loved to put his own lips over his soft ones.

Well, that’ll come. Eventually... Jack thought, a warm smile slowly blooming on his face.
We still have time.
All the time we want, if he wants.
