Yep, dear Carmen... you got a point here. :) Jack was indeed escaping from his true self, wasn't he? But let me try to explain what I meant with that last line... it's not so easy in english but I'll try. Well, I think that Jack could maybe think he was finally facing those responsability the society expected him to take- like finding a wife, a 'normal' job (and quit the bull-riding) and in general just lead that normal life he still believe didn't do for him. I think at a certain point Jack tried to follow the rules that the society imposed... and I guess he realized he couldn't keep running after his 'silly' dreams. So, I guess that from his point of view, he was doing trying hard to do the "right thing", i.e. stop running away from his duties.
