Jan. 25th, 2012 10:46 pmSo, remember when I said I was going to watch the BBC mini-series Sherlock, but I was “pretty sure I’m not going to like it?”. Yeah, me too. Famous last words.
‘Cause I did like it in the end, and I’ve been bored and I’ve read lots of fics, and now I feel like making a rec post – mostly for my own benefit, since there are no Sherlockians on my f-list. Oh, well.

What is ACTA? ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.
Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”
What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Started on 1st December 1988, World AIDS Day is about raising money, increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. World AIDS Day is important for reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done.
The theme for World AIDS Day 2011 is 'Getting to Zero'. After 30 years of the global fight against HIV/AIDS, this year the global community has committed to focusing on achieving 3 targets:
"Zero new HIV infections. Zero discrimination. Zero AIDS-related deaths".
Backed by the United Nations, the “Getting to Zero” campaign runs until
2015.

and picked it up,
brought it
in a container
of silicon glass,
with asbestos gloves,
in the indifferent darkness.
He showed it to them,
the blue-purple
gay
flame,
deeply troubled
that it was not going to work,
that it was not it.
It was it,
the first steak
could be smelt
and the feet of the first heretic
started to burn.
Zeus didn't give a damn
and Hera
really liked it.
He, Prometheus,
returned
to think up
the blow-torch.
But it didn't work out this time
and only fetters
grew on his ankles
& wrists
& out of his grey head
flew an eagle
and jabbed
and jabbed.
